Vijayawada: Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in collaboration with GIZ, a German organisation which supports energy efficiency projects in India, will organise the BEE–Indo-German Energy Program Partnership National Summit here on February 20 and 21.

The event is expected to provide a platform for discussions on ongoing energy efficiency initiatives, with a special focus on empowering State Designated Agencies (SDAs) to drive energy conservation efforts.

In a letter to K Vijayanand, Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and Chairman of APSECM, Srikant Nagulapally, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power & Director General, BEE, has invited him to deliver the inaugural address and share valuable insights to contribute to the summit's success.

Welcoming BEE’s decision to host the summit in Andhra Pradesh, Vijayanand emphasised the State's commitment to strengthening the financial stability of power distribution companies (DISCOMs). He highlighted the State Government's focus on leveraging Central Government schemes such as PM Surya Ghar and PM Kusum to boost renewable energy adoption and reduce operational costs.

On the occasion of BEE's summit Vijayanand released a report on impact of BEE Star Rated Appliances to achieve economic and energy savings through effective communication strategies presented by A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy Media Adviser Southern States/ UTs, BEE. He also directed CEO, AP SECM BAV Kumar Reddy to support and coordinate with BEE to make the summit a grand success.

The Chief Secretary urged the Centre to double the State's battery storage capacity from 1,000 MW to 2,000 MW, enhancing grid stability and renewable energy utilisation. He commended BEE for successfully implementing prestigious energy efficiency programs which will have major impact for providing quality of power supply and reducing energy costs and contribute to India's climate goals.

Ahead of the summit, Milind Deora, Secretary, BEE, along with Abhishek Sharma, Director, BEE, reviewed the event’s preparations with CEO and officials of APSECM.
